Believe it or not FRC is now a year old. Scott looks back at the year and contemplates 2012.
WOW!!! That is all.
I really am slightly stumped for words this morning. I cannot believe that FRC has been going a year now. 12 whole months. I really didn’t think it was going to be something that I would keep up. As many of you know I didn’t start this place to be as it is now. But boy do I love it here now.
In the last year we have posted 402 posts, have had 7695 comments (thanks guys) and 11788 spam comments (not so much thanks here!!). We have had 688,588 page views from 231,910 visitors and been featured on IMDb Hitlist three times (one of which killed the website for three days). It has been a very good year indeed. I don’t know why it has been such a popular place, or whether we have a major glitch in our stats, but I am very very proud of my baby.
To celebrate FRC’s first birthday I would like to look back at my Top 5 posts from the last year.
1 – First Post……
This was my very first post for FRC. If you read it I was very nervous about doing this new BLOG, and very humble… And if I am honest I still feel the same now. I still have the same nerves when posting a LIST or a REVIEW, as if I am honest I know NOTHING about the medium. I feel like I am winging it most days and hoping I will not get shot down in flames.
2 – Home Cinema Guide – Preview
Most of you know I am a huge home cinema GEEK. But also most of you probably do not know that I actually wrote an eBook on how to set up a Home Cinema. I spent quite a few weeks putting it together and was going to hopefully sell it to my readers. Well it didn’t sell that well, and I have now used most of the content for Tech Tuesday posts throughout the year. But I did have fun putting it together…
3 – Good Trailer / Bad Film – FRC says NO MORE!!!
This is the post that first introduced the idea, and well known concept of SCOTT’S LAW. The law that I am now learning from in that if I like the trailer, the film turns out to be a doozy. The worrying thing is that at the moment I HATE the battleship trailer so i am worried it may actually be a good film!! Also this is the post that got first featured on IMDb hitlist, it killed the website as I had not fitted a CACHE plug in to FRC yet and it took too long to load, and the host decided I was using too much bandwidth and pulled the plug. Luckily they let me back on and all has been fine since.
The FRC Icon section has always been one of my favourite parts of the week, it may well be on a break at the moment but it will be back. The most successful part of the series was the WORLD TOUR. I asked all my blogging friends from around the globe to help out and write a post for the feature. It lasted 13 weeks and I learned of some really great world Icons.
5 – New Year Lists – FRC Team’s Top Films of 2011 and New Years Lists – FRC Team’s Worst Films of 2011
These lists were by far may favourite of the year. They were great for me to sum up what a fantastic time I had, also it was great to celebrate film with the guys who write with me here and help to keep up the stupid pace I have built up for myself!!

So what is the second year going to bring?
Well, I hope it is going to bring more and more great content. As we have more writers now we have more scope to cover more festivals/events than before. So this years LFF will be fully covered rather than a little bit like last year.
FRC is now pushing the technology side of things too, we are being sent things to review weekly so expect more from this side. But do not panic, FILM and TV will still be our main stream of content.
But other than that there is going to be little change to the site. Maybe a change in theme later in the year, although I have become quite attached to my free theme, I do quite fancy a paid theme with more features and a better more professional lay out.
So once again thank you from the bottom of my heart for visiting, reading, commenting and taking part in making my dreams come true. I am truly touched (I am welling up now).
Here is to year two!!!

Congratulations Scott! What an achievement! It has been great to watch the meteoric rise of FRC, from your very first post a year ago, to now. All your hard work and passion is paying off and I hope the next 12 moths are even more successful than the last. I toyed with getting a professional theme myself, I actually bought it, but then I thought better of it and decided to stick to my simple, original theme.
