Midweek Mumbling – Top 10 Films Houdini’s Magic Ticket.
I am a little OK a lot late to the party. But here is my entry in to Top 10 Films blogathon
Everyone loves a good blogathon, and when my old Mucka Dan from Top 10 Films invited me to take part in this one I was pretty excited. It all stems from a post he did way back and comes from the classic Arnie flick, The Last Action Hero.
In that film there is a magic ticket which transports you into the film you are watching. Simple idea huh?
Now I could go off on a mad tangent here and waffle on about how much I wanted to be best mates with Kiefer Sutherland in The Lost Boys, but luckily Dan has set us out 7 questions to keep us under wraps.
Here is my very late entry…
What character would most like to be sat next to on a plane?
This is a toughie. Do you want to be entertained? Or do you want to be in awe?
Personally I like a nice quiet flight. I want to have a couple of drinks and maybe have a little sleep. For this reason I have chosen The Driver from DRIVE. He would be quiet enough not to disturb my journey, but he would also be smoldering enough at the flight attendants that we would be getting a lot of extra snacks and drinks. Plus he is pretty handy with a hammer and I know he could fly a plane, what can’t he do huh? Oh and I could also steal his jacket….
What character would you most enjoy a passionate romance with?
See I have to be careful here. It would be very easy just to pick one of my many fancies (yes I am a floozy). But for this one I am going way back. I am going to pick Claire Standish from The Breakfast Club. The prim princess was many a school boys fantasy when I was growing up. I remember clearly the up skirt shot as well. Also I always fancied myself as a bit of John Bender but I know I was actually the geek.
If you were a cop, who would you want as your partner?
Now I am not the toughest kind of bloke. I am a lover not a fighter!! So if I HAD to be a cop I would need a no nonsense partner that would do all the hard stuff and I would handle the paper work. For that reason I choose Harry Callahan. Have you seen the size of his gun?
What animated feature would you love to walk around in?
Well for this one I am going to need some scuba gear. I really want to be part of Finding Nemo. I have seen that film so much and I would love to be part of the sharks support group, Fish are friends not Food…
What Movie gadget would you like to try out/steal?
One film or gadget that springs to mind is the phone box out of Bill and Ted’s. That would be most excellent!!
What adventure based on earth would you most like to go on / OR / What adventure based in an otherworldly, fantasy-based location would you most like to go on?
This is a weird one and some of you would not understand. I know my wife will. I would like to go into The Lost Boys as Michael and just get on with being a Vampire. Rather than fighting it. Party all night sleep all day…Awesome!!
What one film would you like to be transported into, simply to be part of it?
Don’t judge me on this one. I would LOVE to be part of the Star Trek universe. I don’t want to be part of the flight deck. I don’t want to be an officer. I just fancy working on one of the ships. Science officer maybe? I really would love a go on a holo-deck too. Then again, if I was a nobody I would probably get killed pretty quick!
There we have it. I know it isn’t the most insightful, nor is it the highest of brow versions of the blogathon. But I am glad I had a go….in the end!!
To check out the other brilliant (much better than mine) lists go HERE
Where would you like to go? Comment below….

Star Trek FTW! I had Star Trek associations in two of my answers so I figured I should try to include something else. But I’m definitely on board with you. Even though I’m afraid I’d be pretty useless. Unless they need someone to write their PR stuff. Live-blogging from Enterprise? That would be me!
Ditto Jess. Can you imagine the views you’d have circling distant planets?
Hi Rodney, nice to see you here!
HAHA Yes Jessica!! How cool would LIVE blogging from The Enterprise be?
Custie I didn’t know you were a trekkie in disguise hahah =)
Shut it Burman
Been a while since I saw The Breakfast Club! Good choice! Though in High School I was more the Ally Sheedy character.
My boss calls me Scotty, yes from Star Trek, so in some way I’m already on the Enterprise
Were are those dilithium crystals when you need them! See you on board.
Oh really? Scotty hey? I will have to remember that one!!
Somehow I knew Gosling would make an appearance
Well as you said about me on my post, I feel like I’ve come to know you well too, matey.
Btw, my hubby LOVES Bill & Ted, he’d want to go on an adventure with those two blokes.
Ooh, and Dirty Harry would make an excellent partner. You’ll be safe w/ him surely
Ze Bloggers Hubby has cracking taste!!!
Thanks my BFF
I’m glad that you took part in this. I was secretly wondering when I’d see yours. Being in deep water gives me the creeps because of sharks, but the world of Finding Nemo, Sharks are friends. I also have to say I enjoy your choice for the romance too. You and Tyler (Southern Vision) picked two my favorites.
I think I’m later to the party than you…. I’m going to need some scuba gear too as I’d want to swim around The Little Mermaid.
Be careful of the clownfish though – the little sods have got a nasty nip on them if you upset them
HAHA I am glad I am not the only late arrival
I love this, Scott! Nice work! Star Trek…GREAT! Finding Nemo…FUN!
oh, and i would LOVE to see you try to steal Driver’s jacket! haha
Thanks T. Drivers jacket is on my xmas list
We share Nemo on our lists and I can totally see why Dirty Harry would be anawesome partner. Then I’d feel lucky every day!
HAHA Nemo kicks ass almost as much as Dirty Harry!!
We both went for women of 1980s for the romance question. However, I went with a woman who has the classic frizz (which would make two if you include Kelly LeBrock in Weird Science)!
Nice gadget – it is funny that time-travel devices proved so popular!
Thanks for contributing to this blogathon Scott.
I have noticed a few time machines floating about.
Nothing wrong with rocking the 80s crush!!
Thanks for letting me do a late entry
Oooh, who wouldn’t want to get lost in STAR TREK
I’d take over the job from DEANA TROY gladly!
HAHA I could so see you in that job!
Haha, fun stuff, man! Also really digging your new Drive-inspired banner!
Thanks mate. I am in love with HOT pink since Drive
Haha great list! Ten times better than mine! Some amazing choices here, I respect them all!
Finally have found a short moment to finally respond to this one (just finished preparing a very busy week on my blog, with a new daily feature for the coming month (think you will like it)).
Somehow I’m not surprised that you decided to sit next to the Driver….with all the love you are giving Ryan Gosling!
Claire is a nice choice, although a little bit young, isn’t she?
Looking at that Bill and Ted picture it makes me want to revisit those movies, will be ordering the movies soon.
As a gadget man I understand your choice for Star Trek!
The only problem with Harry Callahan? All of his partners die.
