Pet Semetary, Remake?

pet sematary 202x300 Pet Semetary, Remake?

Pet Semetary

As you all know I am not good at horror. I do part take every now and again, but I would never say that it is one of my favourite genres. There are exceptions that I enjoy, “Devil” was one I watched recently, here is my review for those who missed it. Then there are films that have scred me so much that they have shaped who I am as an adult. “Pet Semetary” was one of them.

I used to read Stephen King books fanatically as a child. Loved to be scared. Maybe this is why I am such a wuss now? Hmmmmm Maybe. I used to read them before bed then run and tell my mum all the juicy bits that just happened. She wouldn’t be able to sleep, and I would sleep like a baby. There we go. I could just phone her now and off load my fears to help me sleep. Sorry Mum.

Anyway, I am waffling again.

Upon reading the latest film news on the various site I use. I stumbled upon news that a remake of  Pet Semetary was in the works. Now I am a bit mixed up with this. I love the modern reboots. Think Batman Begins, The A Team. But Pet Semetary was so classic and so scary I feel it is best left alone. I hope it doesn’t go the same way as the awful rehash Nightmare on Elm street.

Josh Baldwin at Get the Big Picture has this to say on the subject -

My typical rant of remakes aside, let’s look at this one objectively (mostly because I can only complain about remakes for so long before I just get tired of it). Writer Matthew Greenberg, who penned the script for another King story-turned-movie 1408, is nearly finished writing the script for Pet Semetary. I thought 1408 was a pretty damn good adaptation of the Stephen King short story; he took what was only a couple dozen pages and turned it into a full length film. Paramount is also calling for a “high-level director” to helm the project. So at very least it looks to be in good hands.

But yeah… looks like we’ll have a Pet Sematary remake soon. And I’d better cut myself off here, because I do feel myself getting less objective. And I’m sure there’s plenty of you out there that don’t want this movie remake either.

As you say Josh, there are plenty out there. I am one of them. It will be The Shining next…..Then IT.

Enough said
