Rumours about Apple’s new media product are two a penny, but this time they seem to be from the horse’s mouth…

I talked about this a little while ago, Apple seemed to be developing a new product the iTV. Steve Jobs talked about it in his auto-biography,

“I’d like to create an integrated television set that is completely easy to use,” Jobs told his biographer, Walter Isaacson. “It would be seamlessly synced with all of your devices and with iCloud.”

It seems that Apple have been talking about the new product to the Wall Street Journal. Apparently the new iTV is being developed and is based on the already in place AppleTV concept (which we use in our Front Room Cinema and works very well indeed), but will now also include a screen. Also it is being developed that it will integrate super smoothly with other Apple products, You could be watching a film on your iPad for instance and pause it and then press play on the iTV and it will start in the same place you left off. Making for a much more intuitive lifestyle.

While this is not from the horse’s mouth, the other rumours are that it will have some motion sensor technology, a bit like the xbox kinect. Meaning that you can fling your arms around like Tom Cruise in Minority report to control and navigate your media. Siri is still looking like it going to be featured too.

Minority report 202x300 Tech Tuesday Apple Spills the beans about it’s next generation Apple TVI have been using the new xbox dashboard for a couple of weeks now, and the extra thought given to the Kinect sensor has made for a much better and enjoyable media experience. Being able to pause a film by simply saying….

“Xbox, PAUSE”

Has been very useful when I couldn’t find the controller. Plus it makes you look cool in front of your mates….. What it doesn’t? They are laughing at me? Ah well I like it. If Apple’s product features motion and voice sensors as good as the xbox then we are in for a treat.

One thing that hasn’t really been talked about is the content. Will it be able to display 1080p? I mean 720p is very dated now, especially when there are new TVs coming out with 4K resolution. We shall have to wait and see.

What about the name too? Fine everywhere in the world…. But I smell a LAW SUIT here in the UK, where iTV is a major TV network!!

What are your thoughts on this? Have you used the KINECT? Would you buy one? Comment below…
