Weekend Round-Up – 7×7 Award

With British Summer time coming into effect this weekend, Scott reflects on not watching any films.

Brighton Beach 001 Weekend Round Up 7x7 Award

Oooh the shame. This weekend not a single film was played in FRC towers. This hasn’t happened for a long time but there were a number of factors that stopped this.

Firstly the sunshine. It has been a fantastic weekend of warm weather and constant sunshine. This means we spent a lot of the weekend out in the garden getting it ready for spring / summer and BBQ season. Now I am no gardener, but when Lyn instructs me to dig something, weed somewhere or cut the grass I have to comply. It is nice that we have got the garden ready now. The girls do love playing out there, and we do love to have a BBQ so it is a very exciting time, but this doesn’t help the film watching side of life in FRC Towers.

Secondly the clocks went forward. Now I do love the longer evenings, but the first day after the change is harsh. I had to get up at 7.30am so I could watch the F1 Grand Prix, which was effectively 6.30am. Which I think we all would agree is very early for a Sunday morning. This put me off for the rest of the day and I am very very tired today.

Thirdly, I finally tiled the bathroom floor. Now this is pretty major. It isn’t that the bathroom floor is big, or is it that I do not know what I am doing when it comes to tiling a floor, I used to be a self-employed tiler so I know a thing or two about adhesive, trowels and grout. The major point here is that I have been threatening to do it for over a YEAR! I tiled the walls last winter! We have had the floor tiles for as long as that but for one reason or another I have kept putting it off. So when i finally got my wet saw out and my diamond cutter, Lyn was gob smacked and got out of my way. HAHA. And I must say I am very pleased with the results. Not that you can really see in the rubbish photo from my 2 year old iPhone!

So there are my excuses. That is all I have. I am sorry, I will try harder next week.

All of that is fine, but that didn’t really help me with a weekend round-up did it? I needed something to post today, but rather than post a review of a film that I didn’t see this weekend, I needed something much more current. Luckily I have been tagged in the 7×7 award that is going around by good friends Rodney of Fernby Films and Tyler of Southern Vision. So here goes…

So what is the 7×7 award?

Well it is a little MEME that is being passed around like-minded bloggers to share a little insight into their world then to share the award onto 7 more bloggers and so on and so forth. Here are the rules..

1: Tell everyone something about yourself that nobody else knows.

2: Link to a post I think fits the following categories: The Most Beautiful Piece, Most Helpful Piece, Most Popular Piece, Most Controversial Piece, Most Surprisingly Successful Piece, Most Underrated Piece, Most Pride-worthy Piece.

3: Pass this on to 7 fellow bloggers

Got that? Good, so here we go…

Tell everyone something about yourself that nobody else knows.

I suppose I better keep this FILM related. There are plenty of things that most people know about me. I am a bit of an open book. You all know I hate horror, I cry at everything, I have a man crush on Gosling… But did you know that I have not ever seen a Harry Potter film all of the way through? I missed the boat before. I didn’t really get the appeal. But now my girls are getting older and nearer to the age of Harry in the first film. I am going to indulge myself  (and them) into the wizard and his films, to see if I finally will come to the party!

The Most Beautiful Piece

My most beautiful piece? Well this is a toughy, as I do not see anything I write as beautiful. I am a hack!! But if it was to be about content then it would be this one… Owning Up to My Ryan Gosling Man Crush

Most Helpful Piece

This is an easy one. I did a two-week running feature on how to be a successful movie blogger. It went through the basics of blogging and also some handy hints for WordPress

Most Popular Piece

Well according to the STATS, the most visited piece is the Val Kilmer piece in the Fallen Icon series… It seems everyone loves a picture of a Fat Val Kilmer.

Most Controversial Piece

I am not the most controversial of writers, I like to keep everyone happy. But when I stepped up and said I actually LIKED John Carter, I felt that pretty controversial.

Most Surprisingly Successful Piece

Pretty much every time IMDb picks up a piece for the hitlist I am surprised. I never feel my work is worthy of the attention, especially this little one about the LULL before the Blockbusters….

Most Underrated Piece

This is a hard one, as I am not ever that confident to put something out there and to be sure it is going to be loved by my readers. Although this was one that I wish more people would have enjoyed!! The Attack The Block Dictionary

Most Pride-Worthy Piece

This was also a tough one for me. I am not good at this huh? But this little review I did for Groovers and Mobsters Present: Time Travel, touched a special place for me. It brought back loads of memories of my childhood. Time Bandits is such a good film!

So now it is time for me to pass this on to 7 bloggers. This would be easy if it hadn’t been around for a few weeks now and I wasn’t super late!! So if you have been tagged before please forgive me!

Phew I made it!! I hope you enjoyed the read and I look forward to reading yours in coming weeks!!
