FRC Love In – The Olympics and an Introduction
Happy Monday Folks! It is time for the love in, Are you ready?
What a weekend to be a Brit. It isn’t very often I get to say that. The norm for our nation is disappointment and un achieved goals, but this past week, and most importantly this weekend our athletes have exceeded all expectations and instigated some immense National pride.
How? By being most excellent at the Olympics.
I honestly thought that it was a fluke 4 years ago at the Beijing Olympics when Team GB managed to secure 49 medals and came in 4th in the medal table, and after the slow start we had I feared I was correct. But, all of a sudden we have picked up speed and Saturday night was probably one of the best nights of sport I have seen (if you are British that is).
Within 45 mins on Saturday night, our guys brought in 3 gold medals. First Jessica Ennis, poster girl for the olympics got a magnificent GOLD in the heptathlon. Then Greg Rutherford stormed the Long Jump finals, all while Jess was on her lap of honor! Then last but by no means least Mo Farrah ran a truly inspiring 10,000 metres run and convincingly took out the rest of the field. I was jumping around at home with the family. GO TEAM GB!!!
We are now in third place with many more opportunities to come. I am now finally, at 38, proud to be British!!
As you can probably tell there has been nothing but Olympics (or ‘limpics as we call it in FRC Towers) on the big screen this weekend. So nothing to tell on the films we saw. But I do have some very cool news.
Front Room Cinema has recruited another couple of excellent writers, one starts today and the other starts in September. So if you would all be so kind and give Stu Anderson a very warm welcome I would be most grateful. Here is a little info on Stu…
Stu is a former film student and aspiring film critic from the Highlands, currently living in Edinburgh. He is a fan of documentaries, Judd Apatow produced comedies, science fiction, cult film and television, punk rock, and video games. He is a firm observer of The Moviegoers Code of Conduct and would love to live in a world where people don’t talk or check their phones during films. He can be found on Twitter as @stugone or at his own blog: Stu’s Adventures in Cinema
Now, the part you have all been waiting for… The LOVE IN!!!!

Hey Team GB are nothing to sneeze at in these Olympics. Congrats.
I love sports so the Olympics is always a special event for me in most years, although I did not pay as close attention to Bejing.
